now that we're in park slope, lamar and i have gone all pink and joined the local food co-op. we'll each have to work 2.75 hours every four weeks (i chose cheese slicing, olive bagging type work), and in return we are allowed to shop. the store is like a medium (or very small suburban) market, with very good prices on mostly organic and locally-grown produce, plus national stuff. the closed community aspect of it is a bit off-putting, but the benefits of good food at good prices (and coincidental convenience. as it is relatively nearby) seem to outweigh the negatives.
